Privacy policy
MeterStudio is published by Rohan Sharma through the EnduroCo Google Play developer account. It reads supported electricity meters through a USB optical probe and displays downloaded data on your Android device.
Information processed on your device
The app stores meter identifiers, readings, billing records, load-survey records, events, download timestamps, coverage and diagnostic outcomes locally on your device. Test builds, including the open beta, include the fixed Indotech test read credential so no setup is required. A bundled credential can be extracted from the app and is not a secret-storage boundary. Optional user-provisioned overrides are encrypted using an installation-specific Android Keystore key.
Try demo creates synthetic records labelled TEST DATA on this phone. It does not contact a meter or use meter credentials. Demo downloads use a short-lived foreground service, progress notification and bounded wake lock, and stop within one minute. Demo and real downloads remain separate saved attempts.
Meter records use Android application-private storage. They are not separately encrypted by the app and rely on Android device security. Protect the phone with a secure lock and give access only to authorised operators.
Collection and sharing
MeterStudio does not send your meter data or saved credentials to the developer or a cloud service. The app does not contain advertisements, analytics, third-party crash-reporting services, account registration, cloud sync or in-app purchases.
Google Play and Android may independently process installation, update, security, diagnostic and device information under their own policies. Internal testing also uses your Google account to control installation access. This policy describes MeterStudio’s processing, not Google’s services.
If you contact support by email, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond to your request. Do not send meter passwords or unnecessary meter/customer records. You can request deletion of support correspondence through the contact address below, subject to any applicable retention obligations.
Permissions and connected hardware
USB access is used to communicate with the selected supported optical probe. A connected-device foreground service, ongoing notification and bounded wake lock support a transfer that you start. Notification permission allows progress and cancellation controls to be shown.
The app does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, Bluetooth or shared-storage access. Its manifest does not request Internet access.
The app performs read-only meter operations. DLMS Low authentication is not encrypted optical transport: the meter password is conveyed to the meter during the optical association. Use approved hardware and trusted devices/operators.
Retention and your controls
Saved downloads stay in this installation until its app data is removed. There is no automatic expiry, cloud backup, account-based restore or individual record-deletion control.
Android’s Clear storage action or uninstalling the app removes this installation’s local records and credentials. These actions are destructive. Do not remove data you still need: this version has no export feature.
You can remove a stored credential override without deleting saved downloads or changing the meter’s password. Test builds then revert to their bundled test read credential, which cannot be removed from the binary. Android app backup and device-transfer backup are disabled. Builds without a bundled test credential require setup on each new installation.
Intended audience
MeterStudio is intended for adult professional and authorised field operators. It is not directed to children. Distribution may include internal testing and an India-only open beta. Availability is determined by the current Google Play release and review status.
Policy changes
When the app’s data practices change, this page and its effective date will be updated. Relevant Google Play disclosures will also be updated.
